La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Cigar Review

This offering from La Flor Dominica comes with a wedge on the smoking end to give it a unique and eye-pleasing shape and presentation. The wrapper is beautiful with a medium-hued cocoa colored Sumatra leaf, holding together a blend of long leaf fillter.

While one would expect this cigar to be super heavy as it is indeed a full bodied cigar, I didn’t find it terribly overpowering. The pepper notes were a bit muted and the cocoa came off slightly drier than I prefer. There’s a little spice as you draw down, but it doesn’t scream anything spectacular. The flavor was good, but as these sit around $9.00 a stick, I wasn’t feeling the flavor-to-value ratio.

Of particular note, the draw on this was not nearly as smooth as I am used to with LFD. It was very rough, though the burn was nice and consistent in spite of the uneven smoke. I’d love to have had more than one of these to sample to find out if it’s the cigar in general or just this particular stick, but alas, I didn’t.

I’m happy to recommend trying one of these, but I wouldn’t go buying a box right off the bat, at this point.
